The Metasense lifetime nutrition program is a unique system of nutritional analysis based on the premise that there is no one diet that is right for everyone.  Each of us is biochemically unique; but that within that uniqueness certain patterns of commonality emerge that we refer to as the Metabolic Body Type.  Based on this understanding, we can recommend the types of foods, supplements, and exercise programs most suited to the individual’s metabolism, thus cutting through the one-size-fits-all approach that characterizes most nutritional programs.

Meta Sense invloves the analysis of the interrelationship of the body’s 3 main systems responsible for the creation, maintenance and control of energy:

*The Autonomic Nervous System

*The Oxidative System

*The Endocrine System

The first system, your nervous system, controls the organs and glands involved in processing your food.  Your second system, the Oxidative system, performs the chemical breakdown of the food you eat.  The third system in the Metasense Lifetime Nutrition Program that is absolutely critical for weight loss or weight gain is the Endocrine system

In each person, one of the four primary endocrine glands (pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, or gonads) tend to be responsible for body type characteristics (height, weight, body shape,etc.) and how fat accumulates on the body.

Certain foods stimulate particular endocrine glands.  When fat does accumulate, it may be due in part to an over-stimulation and subsequent exhaustion of the dominant gland..consequentlyeating foods which naturally stimulate the dominant gland, if done to excess, may result in a weakening or exhaustion of that gland and in turn, lower the metabolic rate.  This can contribute to the accumulation of excess weight.

When the right foods are eaten in the correct proportions of macronutrients, that foods is converted into energy, and not stored as fat.

The goal of the Metasense Lifetime Nutrition Program  is to burn the majority of your food intake for energy and not have it stored as fat!

The Metasense Lifetime Nutrition Program will help you fine tune your diet so that you eat foods that are ideal for your particular metabolism, in the correct ratios of macronutrients, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.  You will discover the “fuel mixture” that works best for you.

You may fit into a particular metabolic body type by easily recognizing some of the traits, symptoms, and characetistics listed below, or you may be a mixture of body types.  The Metasense Lifetime Nutrition program can help you determine your type more accurately, and assist you in becoming balanced more easily and quickly.

  • ANS Dominant Sympathetic (Power Metabolism) – This metabolic body type generally overactive adrenal glands.  These glands that sit just above the kidneys are responsible for handling “Stress” situations by producing the hormones adrenaline and cortisol.  Weight gain in individuals with a power metabolism may happen when the foods they eat over-stimulate the production of these hormones, which can interfere with the signals from the pituitary and thyroid glands.
  • Oxidative Dominant Fast (Energy Metabolism) – This metabolic body type generally has an overactive thyroid gland.  The thyroid gland, near the throat area, primarily secretes a hormone called thyroxine which directly affects how nutrients are processed.  Foods that over-stimulates the thyroid gland, such as breads, sugar, and refined carbohydrates will directly cause the release of insulin – the “Fat storage” hormone and cause “spare tire” weight gain, interfering with hormones from the adrenals and gonads.
  • Oxidative Dominant Mixed or ANS Balanced (Sensual Metabolism) – This metabolic body type generally has an overabudance of hormones produced by the gonads, hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.  The gonads refers to the testicles in males and the ovaries in females.  Foods that over-stimulate the gonads can interfere with the pituitary and thyroid hormones.
  • ANS Dominant Parasympathetic or Oxidative slow (Mind Metabolism) – This metabolic body type generally has an overactive pituitary gland.  The pituitary gland, near the base of the brain, is extremely small, about the size of a pea.  Despite its small size, it is one of the structually complex organs in the endocrine system.  It is the “master regulator” of human metabolism.  Foods that over-stimulate the pituitary gland can cause “overall” or “baby” fat weight gain.

Here’s how the Meta Sense Lifetime Nutrition program will work for you:

Once you’ve decided the time is right to make permanent changes to your nutrition, I’ll schedule a one-on-one appointment for you and then send you my Nutrition Consulting Form (via email, or regular mail). This questionnaire asks you about your nutrition and health goals, your medical history, and you’re eating and exercise habits. Once you’ve completed the form, you can either submit it online or mail it back (if you don’t have access to email). This will allow me to get a head start on your nutrition assessment before I meet/speak with you.

Your first consultation with Carlos: During our initial 45-minute meeting, we’ll talk about your goals, lifestyle, habits, medications, and nutrition supplement use. I’ll also walk you through a detailed diet history to learn your eating/meal schedule, your portion sizes and, of course, your food preferences.

Then I will help you choose which program is best for you, Basic or Advanced (Click here for details).  

Based on your Metabolic Typing test results, health history, and overall goals, I will then prepare the following for you:

·         A Customized Nutrition Plan that outlines meal times, portion sizes, appropriate food combinations and actual meal suggestions for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Your meal plan will be based on where you actually eat – restaurants, take-out and at home.

·         A Nutrition Action Plan that outlines the dietary changes necessary to help you achieve your goals. In essence, this is a list of specific strategies and recommendations that will help you improve your nutrition, your nutritional intake and your activity level.

·         A Specific Supplementation Plan that will further optimize your energy, immune and digestive systems, and overall metabolism.  You will also get direct access to Ultra Life – the leader in customized supplements (the same company I use).    

·         A Customized Lifestyle Recommendation Plan that will address any specific concerns not addressed by nutrition and exercise alone.  These powerful tools can help combat adverse lifestyle habits, excess travel, and stress – just to name a few. 

·         A Goal setting Workshop which will enable us to chart our progress and build a foundation for both short and long-term success.  As you start to reach your nutritional goals it’s not uncommon to set and achieve new goals you never though possible.

Your second 45-minute consultation – “Your results session!” This visit is usually scheduled one week after our first appointment. During this meeting I will review your nutrition and meal plan with you so that you are ready to get started! You will then follow-up with me on a regular basis.

Four 15-minute follow up visits/phone sessions – “Success Steps” These visits are critical to your short and long term success – follow-up visits provide support, accountability and allow for ongoing nutrition education. Follow-up visits can be combined to allow for 30 minutes sessions – this will be determined based on your goals and objectives.  Depending on your goals, follow-up visits may be scheduled weekly, bi weekly or even monthly.
